Friday Events and Activities

Tod’s Nanaimo Infusion
Welcome, Friends! ❤️

The weekend is here! Welcome to all our friends and neighbours — yes, that’s how you spell it 🤣 Here’s what’s going on in town today:

The Big Activities List

Start by checking the big Activities List at https://b.link/nanaimo-activities — antiquing, boating, crafting, beer lovers, golfers, hikers, kids activities, cycling — it’s all there!

Specific Events Today

  • Historical walking tour of downtown (meet at 10:30am at Port Theatre; by donation)

  • Food Truck Festival: Maffeo Sutton Park (12p-8p)

  • All-Local Market: Maffeo Sutton Park(3p-7p)

  • LGBTQ+ Meetup: White Sails Brewing (6p-8p)

  • Europa Super Circus : Nanaimo North Town Centre(4:30 and 7:30 — tickets at https://supercircus.com/city/nanaimo-bc/)

The web site https://nanaimoinfusion.ca will have all the details and the most recent updates, and don’t forget that the Discord has more than a thousand locals and visitoes in it, ready to help you with activity recommendations.

📍 Jocelyn and I will be at Maffeo Sutton park today from 4p-6p. Please come up and say hi! We’re easy to spot. Jocelyn has blonde-pink hair and uses a wheelchair, and I’ll be the fellow in the red plaid shirt looking anxious 🤣

📷 Don’t Forget! Saturday 10 AM!

The only “official” event is happening at Maffeo Sutton park [map] on the Saturday (April 26th) at 10:00 a.m. SHARP! (Dogs are welcome in the park and there are indeed bathrooms.)

I would strongly recommend you come early, because parking will likely fill up. Here is a PDF of downtown parking options. I also found this map of parking options. You may want to consider parking downtown, then walking to the water (4 min from downtown) and walking along the seawalk to the park (10 min max). It’s a beautiful walk.

The mayor will be there to welcome you, our local MLA has gifts for you all, and then we’ll take a big family photo. (It’ll also be my birthday!)

Some people have asked how they can thank us for doing this. Come to this Family Photo. That’s how. ❤️

❗Wear Your Red Lanyard!

Wearing a red (or Canada-flag) lanyard will help local store owners know you’re one of our treasured guests — some stores and restaurants are giving discounts to people wearing them. (Yes, locals can wear them too!) It will also help you all identify each other as you travel, and that way you can say hi! You can get them anywhere — dollar stores, Amazon (if you must), and so on.

🧳 Still On Your Way?

  • If you’re driving, remember that we measure speed in km/hr. Don’t get a ticket!

  • Do not bring cannabis across the border! (Even though it’s legal in both Washington State and Canada.) You will be arrested. Once you’re across the border, we have lots of weed stores in town to keep you happy.

  • If you’re coming by BC Ferries and you have not made a reservation, make it now. It’s only like $15 extra and will guarantee your boarding.

  • If you’re coming by Hullo ferry from downtown Vancouver, use the code INFUSION for 15% off.

📍 Locals/Mainlanders Welcome?

Absolutely! Please come! Please also wear a red lanyard if you can (or a red ribbon around your neck or something) And be sure to come to the Family Photo Saturday morning (see above).
