At Maffeo Sutton Park
There is only one “official” event of the Nanaimo Infusion — a big family photo at Maffeo Sutton park [map] downtown. It happens TODAY (Saturday April 25th) at noon sharp.
🅿️ Warning: Parking in the park is extremely limited. Do not expect to park there. Consider car-pooling, taking U-RIDE, taking AC Taxi or Yellow Cab, or walking (it’s only a 10-minute walk from downtown). Here are some other parking options nearby: parking.nanaimoinfusion.ca
The following events all happen at Maffeo Sutton Park ⬇️
9:30 a.m. The Mid Island Tai Chi Club invites practitioners and curious newcomers to the park for Mass 108 Tai Chi synchronized with a global wave spanning 100+ cities in 80 countries. (10:00 a.m.) Mini workshops run 11:30am–noon.
11:00 a.m. Info tables open, for healthcare workers considering moving to Vancouver Island (schools, housing, jobs, immigration, and the queer community).
11:00 a.m. Nanaimo Infusion welcome table opens with maps, free lanyards, and locals to chat with at Maffeo Sutton Park all day today — and sign up to be “adopted” by for the weekend by a local!
12:00 p.m. Brief welcome and comments at the Lions Pavilion (middle of the park).
12:15 p.m. The Official Family Photo is taken!!
After family photo “broadband” begins playing — R&B, blues, rock, and country rock. Opens with storyteller and musician Jake Galbraith.
1:00 p.m. Nanaimo Infusion Pride Social 🏳️🌈 A welcoming space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies. Food and drinks available for purchase. (At White Sails Brewing, just outside the park.)
2:00 p.m. Info tables close
